Un d\u00e9part plut\u00f4t prudent (44\u00e8me au km 27), comme \u00e0 son habitude, mais \u00e0 Luz-Saint Sauveur (km 75), il se rend compte qu&rsquo;il a plus d&rsquo;une heure d&rsquo;avance sur sa pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente participation. Il est alors 19\u00e8me (il \u00e9tait 6\u00e8me en 2016), ce qui signifie que \u00e7a va tr\u00e8s tr\u00e8s vite devant. Il continue sa remont\u00e9e malgr\u00e9 des sensations tr\u00e8s moyennes. Il poursuit jusqu&rsquo;au kilom\u00e8tre 102 (14\u00e8me) o\u00f9 il se r\u00e9sout \u00e0 abandonner, pour ne pas compromettre la fin de saison.
